‘I Was Just Doing My Job’: Sergeant Kepp Tells His Story

On Oct. 18, Montgomery County Police Sergeant Patrick Kepp suffered unthinkable injuries in the line of duty.

Allegedly targeted by a suspected drunk driver, he was run down while setting up speed barriers in the middle of I-270. That incident led to the loss of both of his legs. MCM visited him at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to hear how it all happened and how he is recuperating.

In addition to his police work, Kepp looks forward to returning to his weekend vocation, refereeing NCAA Division 1 College football. He told MCM when he recovers enough to do that work, he will know he is ready to get back to policing.
