Friday, March 8

Job Fair: Montgomery County Recreation is hiring part-time employees to work during the 2024 summer season. Available positions include camp directors, assistant directors, camp counselors, lifeguards and more. Attend a job fair today from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Long Branch Recreation Center which is located at 8700 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring to learn more and apply for a position.

“Celebrate the Feminine” Art Exhibit: Bethesda Urban Partnership presents an exhibit for Women’s History Month with artwork by artist Deborah CC LaCroix in Gallery B. The exhibit opens today and continues through Sunday, March 31. Meet LaCroix at the opening reception Friday, March 8 from 6-9 p.m., with special gallery hours of 4-8 p.m. There will be an Artist Talk on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m. The gallery is located in downtown Bethesda at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E. Gallery hours: Friday and Saturday, noon-5 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Free. Learn more here.

International Night: The city of Rockville hosts its annual celebration Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. in the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and Social Hall. There will be dance performances, traditional clothing displays and the opportunity to sample international food. Free. The theater is located at 603 Edmonston Drive in Rockville. Learn more here.

Bloom at Good Hope Concert Series:  Rochelle Rice and bēheld incorporate jazz, pop, and rock & roll in this concert Saturday, March 9 at 5 p.m. The concert is free or Pay What You Can and takes place at the Good Hope Recreation Center in White Oak. Learn about Rice and RSVP here.

Kensington Parkrun: Looking for a way to increase your activity and meet some new neighbors? Kensington parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5K community event that takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. This is entirely organized by volunteers, email kensington@parkrun.com to help. Sunday, March 10

BSO Music Box Concert “All About Bears”: An ensemble from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra with Maria Broom performs a 30-minute program, “All About Bears” for children ages 6 months to 3 years Sunday, March 10 at noon at the BlackRock Center for the Arts. A perfect way to introduce little ones to music and the BSO. Two performances are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. and at noon. Some tickets are still available for the noon performance. $12. Josiah Henson Museum and Park: This is the first museum in the country dedicated to Reverend Josiah Henson. Indoor and outdoor interpretive exhibits throughout the property detail Henson’s inspirational life story, enslavement in Maryland, and the ongoing struggles for racial equality and justice. The park is part of the National Park Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom program. Montgomery Parks developed and maintains the museum and park. The museum is open free of charge Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, March 10 from noon to 4 p.m. Reservations are not required. The museum and park are located at 11410 Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda.

Art Exhibit Reception: Explore this exhibit of photographs and meet photographer Mike Redmond Sunday, March 10 at a public reception from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Redmond is a longtime volunteer house photographer for BlackRock Center of the Arts and his exhibition “LIVE at BlackRock” is a collection of performance photos from the last four years.
