MCPS Delays Conditional Return to In-Person Learning Until March 15

The return to in-person learning for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has been delayed from Feb. 1, to March 15, 2021, but only if health metrics are met or guidance on the COVID-19 vaccine distribution is adjusted.

MCPS Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith, along with Deputy Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight, made recommendations regarding the return to in-person instruction to the Board of Education during a virtual meeting on Tuesday. All but one member of the Board voted for approval. Rebecca Smondrowski opposed the recommendation.

Dr. Smith explains what those recommendations are based on in the Tweet below:

The MCPS Board of Education will meet on Feb. 23 to determine if health metrics are met for a safe return to in-person instruction.
