Playgrounds Re-Open With New Safety Guidelines

Montgomery County Parks officials are asking residents to be patient as the department gradually reopens playgrounds across the county. They are urging park users to use precautions, such as face masks and social distancing to stay safe.

The reopenings began on Monday, and Montgomery County Planning Board Chair Casey Anderson says it will take about two weeks to re-open the county’s 274 playgrounds.

As of Tuesday, the list of playground locations that have re-opened include:

  • Laytonia Recreational Park
  • The Miracle League playground at South Germantown Recreational Park
  • Black Hill Regional Park
  • Strawberry Knolls Local Park
  • East Norbeck Local Park

MyMCMedia spoke with Anderson to get more details about the safety measures put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With Montgomery County currently in Phase 2 of re-opening, indoor facilities, including the Wheaton Sports Pavilion, and tennis centers have also re-opened.
