Organizations Focus on Assuring African American Community About Safety of Vaccine

The new COVID-19 vaccines are starting to be administered nationally and locally – with distribution beginning in hospitals and nursing homes. However, there are still real concerns and mistrust among African American communities stemming from historical mistreatment.

Based in Rockville, the African American Health Program has plans to ease those concerns by raising awareness locally through educational campaigns.

During a virtual panel discussion hosted by BlackDoctor.org last week, health officials spoke with Dr. Anthony Fauci about minority communities being disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and addressed concerns about the new vaccine.
