Pedestrian Run Over by Train Was Involved in Earlier Stabbing

A man who was a suspect in a domestic-related stabbing in Gaithersburg was run over by a train Thursday night, according to Gaithersburg Police.

The stabbing occurred in the 500 block of Girard Street Feb. 22 at 9 p.m. When Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police officers arrived on the scene, they found a 51-year-old female suffering from lacerations.

She currently is hospitalized in stable condition.

The suspect fled before police arrived on the scene.

About a half hour later, offers were sent to the area of East Diamond Avenue and Railroad Street following a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. The description of the pedestrian matched that of the suspect from the stabbing, according to Gaithersburg Police.

The male was killed. Police are not releasing his name as he was not charged with any crime.
