A fourth suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2020 shooting at a hotel in Gaithersburg, the Gaithersburg Police Department (GPD) said in a statement Thursday.

On Oct. 3, 2020, GPD and Montgomery County Police (MCPD) responded to a shooting report at the 800 block of Russell Avenue. Officers found a male, age 19, in a hotel parking lot with a gunshot wound and non-life threatening injuries. They found a second male victim, 21, at a local hospital also with non-life threatening injuries, GPD said. Investigators determined that victims and suspects were guests at a hotel room and one victim was at a party. Police said a dispute started while party guests were outside and the shooting occurred.

Police arrested Joseph Allen Iverson Pierre, age 21, of King James Way in Gaithersburg on the strength of a warrant, GPD said. GPD stopped Pierre while he was driving on Lost Knife Circle at Contour Road in Gaithersburg for a traffic violation, police said. Police found he was in possession of a loaded handgun, and Pierre was arrested and charged for possession of a handgun and possession of a handgun by prohibited person due to criminal conviction, GPD said.

According to online case records, Pierre is charged with one count of first-degree assault, one count of firearm use in a violent crime, one count of firearm possession with a felony conviction, one count of illegal firearm possession, one count of a loaded handgun on person, one count of a handgun on person, one count of a loaded handgun in vehicle, one count of a handgun in vehicle and one count of illegal ammunition possession.

According to police, MCPD recovered shell casings from the shooting. The Firearms Examination Unit analyzed the casings and found they were from Pierre’s handgun, police said. Police obtained an arrest warrant on April 21, 2021 based on that information. GPD said Pierre is being held without bond.

On Oct. 3, 2020, police arrested Joshua Harrison, 21, of Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown and on Oct. 12 arrested Malik and Malcom Anderson in connection with the shooting, GPD said.
