Police Investigate Burglary of Silver Spring Coin Store

Officers have released video surveillance of a man sought for the burglary of a coin store in downtown Silver Spring.

About 3:34 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, Silver Spring police district officers responded to an alarm at the Bonanza Coins store at 940 Wayne Ave.  When they arrived, officers found that the glass front door had been smashed and the business had been burglarized.

Investigation determined that a man broke a display case and stole about $6,500 worth of coins. A witness saw the suspect leaving the area in an older model sedan, possibly a Toyota or Mazda, according to a statement from Montgomery County police.
