UPDATE: Damascus Man Faces Homicide Charges in Connection to His Father’s Death

Update (July 22): A Damascus man has been arrested and charged for fatally shooting his father Tuesday morning.

Montgomery County Police Department issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying 24-year-old Jesse Jimenez of Damascus has been charged “with the first-degree murder of his father, 46-year-old Macklin Jimenez.” Both men lived in the same household on Gue Road, police say.

According to police, 911 dispatchers received two calls from residents of the Gue Road home reporting a shooting. Germantown district officers arrived at the home and located Macklin Jimenez in a basement bedroom, dead “from a gunshot wound(s),” police say. Investigators have since determined the bedroom belonged to Macklin Jimenez’s son Jesse Jimenez.

According to police, “Investigation determined that Jesse Jimenez (son), Macklin Jimenez (father), and Jesse Jimenez’ mother were involved in a verbal argument in the basement.  Jesse Jimenez’ sister then entered the discussion and all four family members entered Jesse Jimenez’ basement bedroom.”

At that point, police say, Jesse Jimenez took a handgun out of his pocket, shot his father, and fled the home in his vehicle.

Police say, “A lookout for Jesse Jimenez’ [sic] vehicle was broadcast to officers and disseminated to law enforcement agencies in the area.”

Wheaton district officers located Jesse Jimenez in his vehicle “in the area of southbound New Hampshire Avenue and Norbeck Road in the Spencerville area” at 11:13 a.m. Tuesday. The officer tried stopping the vehicle, but Jesse Jimenez continued driving, so police say a vehicle pursuit was initiated.

Jesse Jimenez eventually stopped his vehicle while turning onto Twig Road, and then fled on foot, police say. Officers continued the pursuit on foot and by 11:16 a.m., police say Jesse Jimenez was arrested in a wooded area in the area of the 14700 block of Good Hope Road.

Police say Jesse Jimenez has been taken to the Central Processing Unit and he’s scheduled for bond review Wednesday in Rockville.

Additional court records indicate that a “peace order” was placed on Jesse Jimenez from Feb. 26, 2019 through March 11, 2019, restricting him from making contact with the plaintiff at that time.

Police say, “Macklin Jimenez’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted.”

Original Post (July 21): Montgomery County Police Department tweeted Tuesday that before 11 a.m., a man was shot and killed in Damascus.

Officers arrived at 9100 block of Gue Road at around 10:57 a.m. A male suspect connected to the shooting was taken into custody “after vehicle pursuit & foot pursuit that ended in area of 14700 blk of Good Hope Rd.,” police tweeted.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide, police say.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
