Residents Can Comment on Early Voting Centers for 2024 Elections

The county’s Board of Elections (BOE) may vote to approve early voting centers next week.

Residents can make comments about proposed sites during Monday’s virtual meeting at 3 p.m., per a release from the BOE.

The board encourages residents to sign up in advance online or by contacting 240-777-8549. Written comments or sign-up can also be emailed to elections@montgomerycountymd.gov.

The number of sites is determined by the number of registered active voters in a jurisdiction, according to the board.

The county expects 13 early voting sites based on that number, like in 2022, according to the BOE. A 14th site is also expected, like in 2022.

For the 2022 election cycle, the White Oak Community Recreation Center was chosen as a site after residents and elected officials had been advocating for the addition. Also, three alternative sites were selected to be used only if one of the 14 sites had a problem.

Early voting for the 2024 presidential primary and general elections starts in May, BOE Public Information Officer Dr. Gilberto Zelaya told MCM last month.

The board must review its list of early voting centers every two years and send recommendations to the state BOE.
