Teen Admits Calling in Paint Branch High School Bomb Threat

A 15-year-old admitted to phoning in a bomb threat Thursday at Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville.

The youth was charged as a juvenile with threats of mass violence and released to the custody of the parents. This case was forwarded to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for review.

With the assistance of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) staff, Montgomery County police detectives identified the 15-year-old as the individual who telephoned in a bomb threat against the school.

The bomb threat occurred a 10:36 a.m. Police officers, K-9 units and Community Engagement Officers responded.

After the school was evacuated, officers searched the school and determined the threat was invalid. Students, teachers, and staff then returned to their normal curricular activities.
