Tips for Parents: Healthy Vision for Young Children

Many parents admittedly are learning on the job when their child is first born.  While some read books, or information online, others rely on their own instincts to care for their infant.  One area of care is protecting a baby’s eyes when they are infants and then later in life as babies grow older.

MyMCM spoke with retired pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Marshall Keys who shares some tips for healthy vision.  Keys had a practice in Rockville for more than 50 years:

Dr. Keys cautions a lot of people are doing Lasik surgery these days, but not all of them are well trained. He said the number of malpractice suits is greater with Lasik than any other type of surgery.  He urges patients to only see an experienced and reputable Lasik surgeon.
