What’s Open, What’s Closed on Veterans Day in Montgomery County

Montgomery County government has posted the following holiday schedule for Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day:

  • County offices—Closed.
  • Public Libraries—Closed.
  • County-operated COVID-19 vaccination and testing centers—Closed.
  • County liquor stores—All stores open normal hours. List of stores and hours may be found online here.
  • Department of Permitting Services—All offices, including customer service lobby, are closed.
  • Ride On, Ride On extRa, and Ride On Flex—Will operate on a Holiday schedule. Schedules may be found online here.
  • Flash—Will operate on a Holiday schedule (Orange Line only).
  • MARC Train and Commuter Bus—Will operate on its “R” schedule on all three lines. Information is available at the Maryland MTA website.
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store – Closed.
  • Metrorail—Will operate on its Saturday Holiday schedule, with trains operating from 5 a.m.-1 a.m.
  • Metrobus and Metro Access—Will operate on a Saturday Supplemental schedule.
  • Montgomery Parks – Visit MontgomeryParks.org for complete information. The following facilities will be closed:
    • Montgomery Parks headquarters, permits office and customer service office.
    • Josiah Henson Museum (grounds remain open sunrise to sunset).
    • Brookside Gardens visitor center and conservatory (gardens remain open sunrise to sunset).
    • All nature center buildings: Black Hill Nature Programs, Locust Grove Nature Center, Brookside Nature Center, Meadowside Nature Center, Maydale Nature Classroom (grounds at those facilities remain open sunrise to sunset)
  • Recreation – Aquatic and community centers are open; senior centers and administrative offices are closed. After-school programs as some community recreation centers will remain ope. Contact local centers for additional information.
  • The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center—Closed.
  • Trash and recycling will not be collected on county routes on Friday. Those collections will slide to Saturday, Nov. 12.
  • Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – Free.
  • State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection stations—Closed.
  • State offices and courts – Closed.

The City of Gaithersburg government will observe the following holiday schedule for Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11:

  • All city facilities are closed with the exception of the following facilities:
    • The Activity Center at Bohrer Park will be closed to the public, but open for scheduled City programs.
    • Youth Centers will run on regular schedule.
    • Amazing Afternoons will run on regular schedule.
    • The Aquatic Center will open from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. for lap swim only.
  • The Gaithersburg Police Department Administrative Offices will open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • The Arts Barn will be open for an 8 p.m. performance of Improbable Comedy.
  • City sports practice and field rentals will run on a regular schedule.
  • Recycling will be collected as scheduled. On-demand bulk pick up will be unavailable.

The City of Rockville government will observe the following holiday schedule for Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11:

  • City Hall, the Senior Center, Glenview Mansion, the Civic Center business office, and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office will be closed.
  • The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre will be open for an 8 p.m. performance of Legally Blonde.
  • Parking will be free at city-owned meters.
