Today is Monday, Aug. 15 and here’s the 10 day weather forecast. Here are five things to know happening in Montgomery County today.

1. Fall Recreation Programs: Registration opens today for county recreation programs and activities.

2. Back to School Shopping: Maryland’s Tax free Week continues through Saturday, Aug. 20 to help families with back-to-school shopping. Maryland’s six percent sales tax is not collected for qualifying items including clothing, footwear, and some school items.

3. Agricultural Fair: The 73rd Montgomery County Agricultural Fair opened Friday and continues through Saturday, Aug. 20. The fair offers animal exhibits, carnival rides, food and so much more.

4. ‘Clear the Shelters’ Event: Adoption fees for all animals are waived during August at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center during the month of August.

5. Primary Election Update: After counting the unopened 105 provisional ballots discovered Thursday, Aug. 11, the Board of Elections certified the results from the July 19 primary on Saturday.  A recount of the vote is expected to start this week.
