It’s Wednesday, Jan. 12 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Early Release Day: Today is an early release day for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).

2. Hypothermia Alert: Montgomery County Emergency Management extended the Extreme Cold Plan for a Hypothermia Alert until 1 p.m.

3. Council Briefing: At 10:30 a.m., County Council President Gabe Albornoz and Vice President Evan Glass will hold a virtual media availability. Residents can watch live on the council’s Facebook page.

4. Weekly Briefing (Time Change): County Executive Marc Elrich and health leaders will hold their media briefing at 12 p.m. today. Residents can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

5. MCPS Community Meeting: From 6:30-8:30 p.m., MCPS will hold a virtual community conversation about COVID-19 operations in schools. Register here and submit questions here.
