5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 30, In Montgomery County

It’s Monday, Jan. 30 and it looks like a warm, cloudy day. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Bus Route Changes:  The schedules for 44 bus routes have changed as of Sunday, Jan. 29.

2. Council President Briefing: Council President Evan Glass, joined by Councilmember Sidney Katz, will hold media briefing today at 1:30 p.m to discuss public safety. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

3. MCPS Job Fair: The public schools district is holding an in-person job fair for teachers today from 5-7 p.m. at 15 W. Gude Drive in Rockville. Learn more about the hiring process and open positions at the MCPS website. RSVP is requested.

4. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council will not meet tonight. Their work session is cancelled. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m. They will hold a public hearing at 7:40 p.m. on the potential changes to lower the voting age from 18 to 16 at 7:40 p.m. The complete agenda and information may be found online.

5. MCM Summer Camps for Youth: We are offering a series of media summer camps for youth ages 12+. Teens will become masters of web series development, field reporting, video editing, and more. Not only will students develop media skills, they’ll also build teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills. Check out our classes taught in person in our Silver Spring Media Lab.
