Today is Friday, Jan. 6. Here is the 10 day forecast and 5 things to know today as we head into the weekend.

1. Winter Coat Distribution: Coats will be distributed to the Long Branch community from 4 to 7 p.m. at Long Branch Community Center. There is a limit of one coat per person and the recipient must be present at the event. Registration is not required.

2. Job Opportunities: MCDOT is currently recruiting full-time bus operators to fill positions in all three depots – Silver Spring, Kensington, and Gaithersburg. Experience is not necessary and applicants without Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) are encouraged to apply.

3. Wolf Moon: The year’s first full moon reaches peak illumination tonight at 6:09 p.m. according to the Farmer’s Almanac. It is known as the wolf moon, after the wolves that are active during the early parts of the year.

4. Summer Camp Fair: The county is holding two fairs for parents interested in summer camp programs. The first is Saturday at East County Community Recreation Center from 1 to 4 p.m. A second fair will be held Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center. Registration for summer camp programs opens Jan. 17.

5. (ICYMI) Unclaimed Lottery Tickets: Several county residents could be in for a happy 2023, but they haven’t claimed their prizes yet.
