5 Things to Know Today, July 8, In Montgomery County

Today is Friday, July 8. Here’s the 10 day forecast as we head into the weekend.

1. Early Voting: There are 14 voting centers open in the county from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily through July 14. MyMCM spoke with Dr. Gilberto Zelaya from the Board of Elections Thursday about the first day of early voting.

2. Swearing-in Ceremony for SMOB: Walt Whitman’s Arvin Kim will be sworn in as the 45th Student Member of the Board of Education at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be streamed live on YouTube and the MCPS website.

3. Metro Work: This weekend Red Line trains will single track between the Silver Spring and Forest Glen stations.

4. Youth Summer Camp: Looking for a summer camp for youth aged 11-17 years old? We are offering a four week class on media instruction and leadership training at our Silver Spring Media Lab. Students will learn how to produce podcasts, shoot video, and edit media. The camp starts Monday, July 11.
