5 Things to Know Today, Oct. 27, In Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 27, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Weekly Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Earl Stoddard and other county officials will hold their media briefing at 12:30 p.m. Residents can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

2. Domestic Violence Survivor Panel: From 6-7 p.m., join a virtual panel with domestic violence survivors. They will discuss barriers, perceptions and healing. Register here for the Zoom discussion or watch live on Facebook. The event is sponsored by the county’s Domestic Violence Coordinating Council.

3. Food Distributions: Free food distributions are offered at multiple locations in the county today, including a drive-thru distribution at Watkins Mill Elementary School in Montgomery Village from 1-2:30 p.m. See more here.

4. New Liquor Store: Oak Barrel & Vine, a new flagship store for County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) focused on spirits and local products, opens today in the Cabin John Village Shopping Center in Potomac. The store will host a grand opening from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

5. Senior Planet: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Fitness Apps” and “Transmisiones En Vivo y Televisores Inteligentes.”
