Five Things to Know Today, Aug. 26, in Montgomery County

It’s Wednesday, Aug. 26, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. Virtual Briefing: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles and Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Dr. Earl Stoddard will hold a virtual media briefing at 12:30 p.m. Residents can watch the briefing on Facebook Live and on County Cable Montgomery (CCM).

2. Silver Spring Food Distribution: Pick up boxed groceries and meals from 1-3 p.m. at 31 Norwood Road in Silver Spring.

3. Downtown Bethesda Traffic: Until Friday, construction in Bethesda will reduce Wisconsin Avenue (MD 355) southbound traffic to a single lane between Elm Street and Bethesda Avenue from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Residents can expect other closures outside of construction hours this week.

4. Senior Planet Montgomery: Senior Planet Montgomery continues offering free Zoom classes to Senior residents. Today’s classes include “Creative Writing Club” and “Mindfulness and Meditation.”

5. MCM Classes: Are you ready to produce great content with MCM? Then sign up for one of our upcoming virtual classes. On Sept. 10, we have an orientation where you can learn about what MCM can offer you. On Sept. 14, you can begin our 2-session long “Step into Virtual Podcasting” class.
