Five Things to Know for March 10 in Montgomery County

It’s Tuesday, March 10, and it’s the Jewish holiday Purim, which is also known as the Festival of Lots. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council in Session: Montgomery County Council meets this morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Council Hearing Room in Rockville. The council will be giving proclamations recognizing Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week, Women’s History Month, and one that honors the Maryland Bobcats soccer team on their national championship. 2. School Board Meets: Montgomery County Board of Education has a 9 a.m. business meeting at the Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville. Here’s a look at the agenda.

3. Jazz Concert: The Muneer Nasser Jazz All Stars concert takes place at Montgomery College’s Music Building on the Rockville Campus at 7:30 p.m. The free concert features Muneer Nasser on Trumpet and Flugelhorn, Elijah Easton on Saxophone, Chris Stiles on Piano, Gerhard Graml on Bass, and Julian Berkowitz on drums.

4. Coffee with a Cop: Gaithersburg Police Department is hosting a Coffee with a Cop event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 465 North Frederick Avenue. Here’s more information.

5. Lighten Up: Stop by the Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center in Silver Spring from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for advice on how to lower utility bills.
