Five Things to Know Today, Sept. 11, in Montgomery County

It’s Friday, Sept. 11, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. 19th Anniversary Memorial of 9/11 Attacks:  Rockville City Mayor Newton will deliver remarks that will be broadcast on Rockville Channel 11, and the city’s Facebook page and YouTube channel at 9 a.m. to mark the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

2. Safe Disposal of Unwanted Prescription Drugs: From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in the Rockville City Police Station parking lot at 2 W. Montgomery Ave., the Rockville City Police Department will collect leftover, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal. All of the Montgomery County Police District station lobbies now have drug disposal boxes available for safe disposal of unwanted or unneeded prescription drugs.

3. “Why I Vote” Art Exhibit:  A new exhibit commemorating 100 years of women’s suffrage opens Friday, Sept. 11 at the Activity Center Galery at Bohrer Park. It will be on display from now through Nov. 16. A panel discussion will be streamed live on the Arts on the Green Facebook page and the City’s YouTube channel on October 4 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. More events may be found, here.
