Health Leaders Urge Residents to Get a Flu Shot

Montgomery County health leaders are urging all residents to get their flu shot this fall.

While getting a flu shot does not protect against COVID-19, health professionals say flu shots have shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death.

Seasonal vaccinations are available through private health providers and retail locations throughout the community. The county also plans to hold clinics for adults and children in October and November.

Below is a list of county-operated clinics. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are accepted.

  • Thursday, Oct. 13
    3-7 p.m.
    Universities at Shady Grove
    9630 Gudelsky Drive, Building II
    Rockville
    Make an appointment for anyone six months of age and older
  • Thursday, Oct. 20
    3-7 p.m.
    Universities at Shady Grove

    Rockville
    Make an appointment for anyone six months of age and older
  • Thursday, Nov. 10
    9 a.m.-3 p.m.
    Dennis Avenue Health Center
    2000 Dennis Avenue
    Silver Spring
    Make an appointment for a child 6 months to age 18
    Make an appointment for anyone 19 years of age and older

School age children up to 18 years of age can also visit the weekly flu immunization clinic every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dennis Avenue Health Center.
