Fire investigators are looking into multiple fires that happened Sunday in Gaithersburg.

At least half a dozen “suspicious” fires occurred early Sunday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Fires occurred at about 2:30 a.m. around S. Frederick Avenue and at about 3:15 a.m. around Russell Avenue, and there were other fires in the area, according to Piringer.

Following several separate fires around 2:30 a.m. at Holbrook Center, Piringer said a person of interest was identified and in custody.
