Five Things to Know Today, Sept. 4, in Montgomery County

It’s Friday, Sept. 4, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. COVID-19 Recovery:  Maryland will move into the next phase of recovery Friday at 5 p.m., allowing all businesses to reopen, with restrictions. Montgomery County will not ease restrictions at this time, citing concerns with the COVID-19 public health metrics.

2. Bethesda Food Distribution:  A group of nonprofits, businesses and churches are distributing food every Friday from now through October in Bethesda at the Bethesda Chevy-Chase Rescue Squad located at 5020 Battery Lane. The hours are from 1 to 3 p.m.

3. Glen Echo Art Galleries Reopen:  The Popcorn, Stone Tower, and Park View Galleries reopen today with three new exhibits for September. The number of visitors at a time will be limited, face masks are required and purchases may only be made by credit or debit cards. Receptions will be held in each gallery today from 5 to 8 p.m.

4. Coronavirus Testing: Montgomery County’s free coronavirus testing clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PlumGar Community Recreation Center in Germantown and the CDC Mobile Testing Trailer will be at the Recreation Department Administrative Building in Silver Spring from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Click here for more details.
