5 Things to Know Today, April 16, in Montgomery County

Today is Friday, April 16, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. County COVID-19 Testing Clinics: Free COVID-19 testing is available throughout the county at five testing sites today, and 12 sites this weekend. Health officials continue to stress the importance of testing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

2. COVID-19 Vaccine:  Maryland ages 16 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The first step is to pre-register at the state’s mass vaccination sites or if a Montgomery County resident at the county-run vaccine sites. The county is providing free Ride On service available between the Shady Grove Metro Station and the Montgomery College – Germantown Campus mass vaccination site.

3. Self-Care Webinar for Women Business Owners:  The Maryland Small Business Development Center hosts a virtual webinar on self-care for women business owners today from noon to 1:30 p.m. The session is free, but registration is required.

4. Virtual Bethesda Film Fest: The 9th annual Bethesda Film Festival features seven short documentaries made by local filmmakers. The films are free to view online. There will be an online discussion with the filmmakers tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.

5. National Park Week:  This annual weeklong celebration of America’s national parks runs from April 17 to April 25. Saturday, admission to all national parks is free.
