1. Free School Immunizations: Tdap (tetanus-diphtheria-attenuated pertussis) and meningococcal-meningitis (MCV4) for students entering grades 7 to 12 at 2000 Dennis Ave, Silver Spring from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. No appointment needed.  A parent or designated adult must be present. Bring a copy of the student’s immunization record to the clinic.

2. Tax-Free Week: From August 13-19, Marylanders don’t have to pay the state’s 6% sales tax on qualifying clothing and footwear under $100 and get the first $40 of any backpack purchase tax-free, according to the Maryland Comptroller.

3. Purple Line Phase III Grants: Montgomery County will be offering funding support for independently owned and operated businesses with 20 or fewer employees impacted by the Purple Line construction through Phase III of its Purple Line Light rail grants program. Eligible businesses can start submitting applications on Aug. 15.
