It’s Friday, July 1 and the start of the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. Return of Fireworks: Fireworks are planned in Germantown, Kensington, Gaithersburg and Rockville for the first time in several years.

2. Discounted Outdoor Pool Tickets: Tickets to the seven outdoor pools are available for county residents to purchase for Monday, July 4 at a discounted rate of $5. Today is the last day to purchase the discounted tickets.

3. Big Train Baseball:  Big Train is playing three games this weekend. Today they take on the Alexander Aces at 6:30 p.m. at the Frank Mann Field in Alexandria, Va. Then on Saturday at 7 p.m. Big Train hosts the Gaithersburg Giants. Sunday, Big Train again has home field advantage as they play the D.C.
