Welcome to our Weekend Roundup of events in Montgomery County. Here are nine things to do this weekend, August 4-7.

Thursday, August 4

MCM Creatives Circle & Networking Event: Connect with fellow creatives and entrepreneurs at Silver Branch Brewing Company for MCM’s first Creatives Circle Mixer. The event runs from 5 – 8 p.m. and will be hosted by Enica Barnes, Khadijah Ali-Coleman, and Eric Peguero. Make sure to RSVP for the chance to meet with like-minded people and even a free headshot.

Friday, August 5

True Respite Pub Run Put on your shorts and lace your shoes because the True Respite Pub Run is sure to satisfy that athletic craving. Starting at 6 p.m. every Friday, the group meets outside the True Respite Brewing Company for a 3 or 5-mile run out and back from the brewery. The best part? The run is followed by a few pints in the taproom where you can socialize with your fellow runner. All paces are welcome!

Seneca Creek Wine Tour: Taste a variety of wines created by the unique microclimates in the Seneca Creek Region as you tour vineyards and meet local winemakers. The wine tour includes transportation to and from the wineries, tastings, lunch and snacks, and a collectible wine glass and wine bottle tote bag to ensure that all you have to do is show up and enjoy. The tour runs from 11/11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. so if you’re interested in a relaxing afternoon on Friday you can book your tour here.

Happy Hour Flow Yoga: If a pub run isn’t your style, you can also stop by the True Respite Brewery for the monthly Happy Hour Yoga & Beer. Join Katie Kecman from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a one-hour yoga class then nama-stay for a True Respite refreshing drink. The $20 ticket includes the class and one beer so if you’re interested sign up here before the event sells out.

Saturday, August 6

Germantown Community Flea Market: If you are on the lookout for knick-knacks, clothes, or anything in between, your best bet would be to check out the Germantown Community Flea Market. The monthly market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Germantown MARC Station Parking Lot. The event is free for customers and $25 for vendors.

Calleva Potomac River Adventure: Feel that the past week has been too calm? Well, nothing gets the blood pumping like whitewater rafting at Calleva! With classes for beginners all the way to advanced, there is sure to be an opportunity for everyone to experience the thrill of the water.

Laugh Riot At Rock Bottom: Make sure you bring your sense of humor as the weekly standup comedy shows at Rock Bottom Bethesda continue. Enjoy some food and drinks beforehand then enjoy as the hour and a half show starts at 8 p.m. Make sure to be there on time though, as the $20 seats are first come, first served.

Gallery B Presents – “Oceans”: Experience and admire the power of nature represented in Megan Elizabeth’s paintings displayed at Gallery B in Bethesda. The exhibit, “Oceans”, captures her awe of the water using colorful paint, unique textures, and many layers of technique. The exhibit is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. with August 6th being the last day to take in the showcase.

Sunday, August 7

Canal Boat Rides at Great Falls: After a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus, the boat rides have resumed at the C&O Canal! From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 2 to 3 p.m. you can ride the replica Charles F. Mercer down the canal and learn about the people who lived and worked along the canal. The park staff will operate the canal locks and boat just as they would have in the 1870s. The free tickets can be picked up at the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center.
